Nourishing Chicken Bone Broth

Bone broth is made from the bones of animals, typically beef, pork, or chicken. It’s high in vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and collagen.

Because it’s easy to digest, the nutrients are easy for your body to absorb. This is why it’s so great to nourish your body with when you’ve been sick or having digestive issues.

You can sip it straight as a hot drink, or you can use it as a base for soups, stews, gravies, and more.

It can be used in place of water in mashed potatoes, noodles, or rice, which will add nutrients to your meal.

Chicken Bone Broth

Ingredients:

Chicken bones - this can be from a roasted chicken, fried chicken, etc.

Vegetables as desired, such as onions, carrots, celery

Garlic, bay leaf, your favorite herbs

Salt to taste

Directions:

Roast the bones in the oven until they turn golden brown and fragrant.
In a large stockpot, add the roasted bones, along with aromatic vegetables like onions, carrots, and celery.
Fill the pot with water, making sure the bones are fully submerged.
For added flavor, toss in a few cloves of garlic, a bay leaf, and a sprinkle of herbs like thyme or rosemary.
Add salt to taste
Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat to a gentle simmer.
Allow the broth to cook for at least 6-8 hours to extract all the goodness from the bones.
Remember to skim any impurities or foam that rise to the surface.
Finally, strain the broth through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any solids and transfer it to containers for storing.
