Why Homemade Bread?

One thing I really love making is homemade bread!

Even though I don’t eat bread, I know many people who do…including my family, and I want to give them the best-tasting, healthiest versions they can get.

Did you know most bread in stores are made with lots of unhealthy and downright destructive ingredients?

I’m sure you’re probably aware that the Standard American Diet is … well, not great… but here are some specific ingredients to avoid in typical grocery-store bread:

  1. Partially hydrogenated oils - these are trans-fats that lower your “good” cholesterol and raise your “bad” cholesterol. They’re used to increase shelf life, add flavor and save money… they’re cheap! We use real butter in our bread, NOT hydrogenated oils. Yes, it’s expensive, but not costly to your health and that’s what really matters.

  2. High Fructose Corn Syrup - One of the worst types of sugar, studies show that high fructose corn syrup increases your appetite and promotes obesity more than regular sugar. High fructose corn syrup also contributes to diabetes, inflammation, high triglycerides, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. We only use plain sugar in the smallest amount possible, not high fructose corn syrup.

  3. Additives Banned In Other Countries - In America, bread is commonly made with ingredients that are banned in other countries because they are known to cause cancer. Whiteners, dough conditioners and rising agents, such as Azodicarbonamide, Potassium Bromate, and preservatives such as BHA and BHT are also used in things like yoga mats, pesticides, hair straighteners, explosives, and petroleum products. ….No Thank You!!! We only use a few simple ingredients, including our own farm-fresh eggs.

So if you enjoy having bread with a meal or making a sandwich, please for your health’s sake, consider buying homemade bread instead of the mass-produced, toxic versions at the grocery store.

Plus … our homemade bread just tastes AMAZING! :)
